How can I find out which retail stores are closing around my city?

My friend is trying to get some used fixtures for his new retail store he's opening, and he says one of the cheapest place I can find those is in stores that are closing down. I've been looking in newspapers and craigslist, but I can't find enough information about those stores. Any idea where I can get list of stores that are closing?
