Regarding modeling paste for adding texture to acrylic paintings...can joint compound be substituted? Modeling paste for acrylic paintings is very expensive...I came upon joint compound for drywall finishing...it is a lot cheaper - actually it is only 1/10th the price of modeling paste. Has anyone worked with this...I am currently experimenting to see how it goes. It dries fast and cracks a little (which is fine for my needs) I wonder about it's durability. I am coating it with acrylic paint mixed with glaze ....anyone have any experience here? Thanks

Acrylic Paintings - Does the frame require a glass in front? or will the painting remain unaffected? I just recently painted an acrylic on canvas. and had it framed. I needed some help with the framing, as in the framer has just mounted the frame on the canvas without any glass. the painting looks great in the frame, what is confusing me though is that do i need to put the glass in the frame to protect the acrylic because when i spoke to the man he said all canvas paintings are framed without the glass. so my question is - will my painting get affected without the glass on the frame? would appreciate the clarification.
Whats the best way to clean an acrylic painting? I had one of my acrylic paintings hanging at a relatives house who was a heavy smoker. I now have the painting back in my possession and it has that yellowish nasty film on it. Any ideas on how I can clean it?
How do I properly store acryclic paintings done on canvas? The majority of the acrylic paintings are 4ft x 4ft and the canvas was stretched by the artist on to wood frames. Some of the wood frames are warping. I need a storage method that can be used for long term (over a year) storage and is practical when dealing with at least 20 paintings. I also need a method that is not super expensive. In case it is important to storage: the paintings range in age from approximately 10-60 years old, but the vast majority are 10-30 years old. Thank you for your help!

By the way, the 12 year old is a girl, the 11 year old is a girl, the 9 year old is a girl, and the 6 year old is a boy.
How to create long lasting quality oil and acrylic paintings? I'm new to painting, but I've worked with graphite, charcoal, ink, etc. in the past. I've bought some stretch gallary canvas and artist panels. They say they are acrylic titanium primed for oil and acrylic paint. My questions are: Do I need to use gesso or anything before I paint on the canvas? What do I use to make the paint blend easily, but not too watery? Do I use the same thinner (or whatever it is), to blend both oil and acrylics? How do I seal (varnish?) either type of painting? My main goal is to create art that doesn't fade or peel apart, in this life time anyway. (Also, any tips on cleaning/conditioning brushes will be greatly appreciated as well!) Thanks in advance!

What is a good starting price for my acrylic painting? I am a high school art student who recently entered two paintings in the local fair. A very eager woman offered to buy one of my paintings, an acrylic landscape. I wasn't sure what a good price was for paintings at the time, so I told her I would get back to her. Is there a good basic starting price for an amateur's work?
How can I start selling my paintings? I'm a single mother needing a bit more income to make ends meet. I do a lot of paintings with acrylic, and people love them. I don't have much time to paint, so when I do, I make 5 or 6. I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to go about selling them. Are they better framed already, or can I leave the canvasboard by itself? Any suggestions welcome!!
